Meghan Markle seen in London for 1st time since move back to UK

WATCH: Harry and Meghan move back to UK

Meghan Markle has been seen in London for the first time since she, Prince Harry and their two children moved back to the United Kingdom from California in late August.

The Duchess of Sussex was seen dining with activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai in Claridge's, a historic London hotel, and a photo of the two was shared on social media.

A source familiar with the situation told ABC News the two are friends and they met for tea.

Meghan and Yousafzai have known each other for several years. In 2020, the two shared a virtual discussion on the International Day of the Girl.

At the time, Meghan opened up about her and Harry's son Archie learning to walk. They also discussed the importance of girls' education, a cause Yousafzai has supported for years and took on more focus after she survived a 2012 assassination attempt on her during a school bus ride in Pakistan.

Meghan and Harry have started building a new personal and family chapter in the U.K. but remain private citizens and non-working royal family members, according to Harry's father, King Charles III.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from their senior royal roles six years ago and spent the past few years living in the U.S. before making a return to Harry's home country.
