Tom Bergeron talks returning to 'Dancing with the Stars' ballroom as guest judge

WATCH: 'Dancing with the Stars' guest judge revealed

Former "Dancing with the Stars" host Tom Bergeron is returning to the ballroom.

"Good Morning America" announced Wednesday that Bergeron will be next week's guest judge for the dance competition show's 20th anniversary special.

Bergeron stopped by the "GMA" studio to talk about his return to the ballroom and said that he is "really looking forward to it."

Bergeron, who hosted the dance competition show from 2005 to 2019, credited showrunner and executive producer Conrad Green for his role in the anniversary special, saying Green got him "reminiscing about all of the fun memories."

Bergeron also weighed in on the success of "DWTS" over the years.

"Twenty years of any primetime show is amazing," Bergeron said. "For a show 20 years old to also be having the ratings resurgence as they are, you're more likely to see a zebra playing the piano than for that to happen."

He continued, "I really think it's a credit to my buddy [Green] and team kind of getting it back to its essence."

As for who he thinks may win the competition this year, Bergeron didn't pick any favorites, but mentioned a few names.

"There are a couple of definite frontrunners, I think, when you look at Alix [Earle] and Robert [Irwin]," he said.

"And when you look at the heart of the show, you look at Andy [Richter]," he added. "I was watching last night, and I was like, 'I get to judge Andy next week!' He epitomizes what I always thought the show was at its best, because technique alone is robotic, but when you bring passion to it, enthusiasm and just a charming personality, that can make up for a lot."

The 20th anniversary special of "Dancing with the Stars" will air Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. ET and PT on ABC and Disney+.

The Walt Disney Co. is the parent company of ABC News and "Good Morning America."
