Krispy Kreme is launching a new lineup of doughnuts in collaboration with James Beard award-winning pastry chef Christina Tosi, inspired by Tosi's famous Milk Bar confections.
The limited-time Krispy Kreme and Milk Bar collection drops Tuesday, April 21, and features three sweet treats that reimagine Milk Bar's cult-favorite flavors: Birthday Cake Doughnut, Milk Bar Pie Doughnut, and Compost Cookie Doughnut.
The Birthday Cake Doughnut is made with an Original Glazed cake doughnut, swirled with birthday cake frosting, topped with cake crumbles and finished with rainbow sprinkles.
The Milk Bar Pie Doughnut resembles Tosi's signature Milk Bar Pie and is made with an unglazed shell doughnut filled with buttery pie filling, dipped in caramel icing and rolled in oat cookie topping, then dusted with a sweet, powdered coating.
Finally, the Compost Cookie Doughnut is made with an Original Glazed doughnut dipped in cookie-flavored icing, sprinkled with a Compost Cookie-inspired crunch -- with bits of sweet, salty, chocolatey morsels -- and is finished with a caramel drizzle on top.
Tosi founded Milk Bar in New York City in 2008 and rose to fame for her distinctly recognizable treats, which include cereal milk soft-serve ice cream, Compost Cookies and more.
Milk Bar bakeries now span the country with over a dozen locations from Los Angeles to D.C., and Tosi has shared an array of her beloved recipes in seven cookbooks.
The award-winning chef called Milk Bar and Krispy Kreme's first-ever collaboration "a creative collision waiting to happen, but the reality was even bigger, bolder and more delicious than I dreamed."
"These doughnuts are wildly creative and delicious interpretations of our classic Milk Bar desserts, bringing all that nostalgia and flavor into an entirely new experience," Tosi said in a press release.
The new Krispy Kreme and Milk Bar doughnuts will be available in-shop and for pickup or delivery, individually and by the dozen. The Milk Bar Birthday Cake doughnuts will also be available in a Krispy Kreme six-pack alongside three Original Glazed doughnuts at select grocery retailers.
